Medical Assitant

The Medical Assistant (MA) assists the mid-level Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) as required during patient visits. This includes such tasks as identifying the patient’s chief complaint, recording patient observations in the medical record, collecting vital signs, etc. They may also conduct tests and procedures as directed, such as venipuncture, spirometry, glucometer testing, or similar tests. MA will also contact BPDM corporate, scheduling, and others as needed.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Support Nurse Practitioners with in-home patient visits as required

Perform tests such as venipuncture, spirometry, glucometer testing, etc.

Gather vital signs as directed by mid-level practitioner

Assist with patient interview and recording of information

Contact BPDM staff and team members as required to contact patients, confirm appointments, and other adjustments needed during a typical day

REPORTS TO

Medical Assistants report to BPDM Medical Support Services but on a practical basis to the Nurse Practitioner to whom they are assigned.

SALARY/COMPENSATION

Typically, Medical Assistants are paid on an hourly basis and report their hours to their supervisor. Pay rates will be commensurate with similar positions in the general geographic location served. Full-time Medical Assistants (32 hours or more per week) are eligible for BPDM employee benefits.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Medical Assistants must possess a Medical Assistant Certificate issued by an accredited institution accredited in the state in which they working.
